Kneesall School Council

Children from each year group are the nominated representatives on the School Council. Each year the children who wish to be a School Councillor put themselves forward and  explain to their year group why they want to – the children then vote for who they wish to represent them .

All of the children take the role of Councillor very seriously – and all have a voice – recently we had the Foundation representative wanting to stand for Chair!

We try to meet at least 5 or 6 times a term.  A School Governor facilitates the meetings and  staff are always welcome to observe.  Topics discussed can be very varied – it may be something the HeadTeacher has raised, a fundraising idea or issues and ideas brought to the meeting by the representatives following discussion in class.

Things School Council have been involved in:

  • New school Mission Statement
  • Road Safety Awareness
  • Samaritans Purse – Christmas boxes
  • New toilets in each class
  • Mirrors in the cloakrooms
  • Change of how we serve meals at dinner time
  • Complaints and compliments school policy
  • Suggestion/ideas box
  • Outdoor play equipment
  • Wet play toys and games
  • The Visit of the Bishop and Arch-Deacon

The meetings are always interesting and show well the school motto of “Together We Achieve”
